Our best destiny is through taking all the levels of elected office and rebuilding democracy from the ground up.

You are absolutely right. I covered electoral reform at length in a previous post and made those same points. They always bear repeating though. You can find it at @markmansour

Yes. America needs a landslide. And I would like to see a majority in both houses because there is some stuff that needs to get done without the GOP throwing heaps of sand in the wagon wheels. And I’m not talking stacking the court or anything of that nature (I think a few impeachments might be in order though).

Tuberville’s stupid antics with regard to military appointments had an impact on service members that will be felt for a long time. Families having to pay their own moving costs. Member’s having to pay leases at both ends of their postings. It wasn’t just about “travel expenses for abortions”. His behaviour was and is disgusting.

And the list is long. Funding bills. Immigration policy. Infrastructure and healthcare bills. Disaster relief. And I am thoroughly confused and appalled at the willingness of Trump supporters to take the “hit“ for him, even if it means giving up their own homes, denying themselves adequate healthcare and other such ridiculousness - all because,

out of a perverse ego-maniacal psycho trip, he set about to dismantle every single good thing accomplished by Democrats.

Yeah. You need a landslide.

After seeing Aileen Cannon and SCOTUS, I don't share your optimism.

Let's not forget some of our other wonderful SCOTUS decisions of the past, like Dred Scott, Plessy v. Ferguson, and In Re Korematsu.

While I agree that these criminals are unlikely to succeed at running the gauntlet of all of the courts, you declaration that a landslide is our best protection could use an acknowledgment of the need to strengthen democratic processes so that our elections are truly competitive.

Partisan gerrymandering makes a landslide in the Electoral College extremely difficult. Do most Americans realize that the GOP gets people into office despite losing the popular vote?

We can deliver millions more votes and still bite our nails. It’s unfair and inconsistent with America’s promise of constituting a representative government that is supported by the majority.
