NO ONE hates the USA more than MAGAts - which is why, from the TRAITURD to reddest of red enclaves, they're working to turn it into something else altogether - from a democratic republic founded on informed self-rule, equal rights for all, and free and fair elections to a Christo-FASCIST oligarchy ruling from the top down, where elections are pre-ordained to prop up the ruling regime. NO fascist regime ANYWHERE - EVER - increased the rights and liberties of its citizens - they're ALWAYS - EVERY TIME - in the business of STRIPPING them and redirecting the wealth of nations into their own pockets. It is true that the price of liberty is eternal vigilance - and we as Americans, too self-absorbed in our personal lives and cares, have failed in our duty to protect our patrimony by vigilantly blocking the path to power of a degenerate and uber-corrupt criminal like our TRAITURD. So now we are at the proverbial fork in the road - resist or surrender what's left of the American experiment. I choose resistance...

Of course anybody with any brains knows he's leading up to a full scale invasion of HIS OWN COUNTRY! How this man was allowed to run roughshod over the laws of the land is amazing. Americans had a forewarning in 2016 of what they could expect. I can only surmise that they don't like their country. PATRIOTS MY ASS!

From your lips to God’s ears. I mentioned to my General Practitioner that I felt rump was laying the ground work for canceling the 2026 mid-terms. He was speechless. He swore it couldn’t happen. Well, it looks a lot like it’s happening right beneath our marching feet. I believe this is the aim in all this LA drama. It’s the first big step.🤞🏽🇺🇸😳

Yes. I wrote a bit about this in April: "I don’t think we should put too much faith in the midterm elections next year. First of all, how can we be confident these elections will take place? Second, if elections are held, how confident can we be that the results will be fairly tabulated? We’re a long way from November 2026, and the regime is moving fast on all fronts, like a Nazi Panzer division."

I'm not sure by what mechanism your first proposal/question gets answered. We always have elections. In the midst of active wars we have elections. How do we not have one next year?

As far as your second question, I was shocked today to read an article that suggested that Harris, who I thought had conceded and moved on, is taking '24 to court. There was one county in NY in which she got zero votes, and even a third party candidate got votes. The election has been called, and certified by Congress, so I'm not sure what anyone does now with a conclusion that it was rigged. I can only assume she's not wasting her time and trouble for nothing.

Thanks for this thoughtful comment, Fred. Apt questions. The thing about this regime is they will take actions we have not seen before, trample every precedent that doesn’t serve their ends.

You're preaching to the choir, man. And it's not just the regime itself that ignores or challenges precedents, it's also an impaired, terrified, and submissive Congress, and ultimately a SCOTUS, and other Judiciary levels, that either don't disagree, are afraid to disagree, or refuse to enforce their own judgments.

I really don't know what NY will or can do about these unbelievable irregularities now.

A leader -- and I use that term ironically in regards to the Felon -- does not jump immediately to deployment of heavily-armed paramilitary federal agents or military troops to quell a small scale, mostly nonviolent protest, unless the objective is to provoke a violent reaction. As everything is with Trump, this is a war of images (for FOX News and Lies Social) and narrative.

And what are the dems doing? I’m hoping they’ve got something seriously classified in the works because I’m so utterly disillusioned with the remarkable absence of leadership and visible support for their constituents who are putting themselves in harms way this weekend. I may be seriously uneducated about US politics, but at this point, I’m unclear why it matters. Why does it seem only the republicans can invoke “non-traditional” means to achieve an end. I expect more from this era. Stop quoting the 60s. I can no longer fathom the viability of the wait and hope strategy. It saddens me incredibly that it seems the people are doing all the heavy lifting.

It’s some solace that someone with your CV took the time to respond. Gives me hope. It seems so obvious to me. Such a simple thing…imagine Jeffries going on MSNBC and Fox to thank those protesting. Why is it so difficult to understand that 50%+ don’t see change. Heather Cox Richardson today challenged Peter Buttigieg’s observation that dem’s accomplishments may have missed the mark. If you can’t read the room it doesn’t matter what you think you’ve done. The dems will win be default, if we get an election in ‘26. Not by design. I’ll take the win with serious gratitude and a modicum of optimism. Having worked in leadership in large systems and corporations, I understand the complexity and inertia, the conflicting agendas. Hope springs eternal. We need to start rewarding democratic behaviour and values. Not complicated. But it’s an uphill battle against opportunism and the need to meet some singular notion of success $$. I’ve won the battles and bear the scars :)

Thank you for all that you do.

I thought I understood you to mean the Democratic Party should get stronger and more focused on winning elections with good candidates and a persuasive and convincing platform. Maybe I misunderstood you.

I'm not sure on what basis anyone would say Buttigieg's "missed the mark" criticism was wrong. The whole country is sinking because Dems didn't successfully persuade the voters.
