Mark, for some reason, this is the first of these I've heard. It's gorgeous.
Two things: you mentioned Watergate, and you credited the courts. What really got Nixon to resign was that he understood that even Republican Congresspeople would impeach and convict him. We don't have that now. Congressional Republicans are afraid and submissive, and several of them have said so openly. They value their chances to get re-elected, or fear competition, more than they represent the Constitution.
Second, and perhaps in a way more demonstrative, Donnie's invasion of California is precisely the opposite of what Republicans claim is one of their main platform planks: that federal government should be small, and states should deal with most issues. To say that Donnie and his terrified and submissive Congress are dishonest hypocrites isn't saying much. But it is the case.
